Home Inspections

What is a home inspection?

A home inspection is a non-invasive, visual examination of the accessible areas of a residential property, performed for a fee, which is designed to identify defects within specific systems and components defined by the Standards that are both observed and deemed material by the inspector. The home inspection is based on the observations made on the date of the inspection, and not a prediction of future conditions. The home inspection will not reveal every issue that exists or ever could exist, but only those material defects observed on the date of the inspection.

At FDS, our Certified Professional Inspector substantially adheres to the InterNACHI  Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. We also adhere to the South Dakota, Home Inspector Standards of Practice found in the South Dakota Home Inspection Laws & Administrative Rules. Our inspector is required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every year to keep his Certified Professional Inspector designation. FDS is fully insured, bonded, and backed by InterNACHI’s $25,000 Honor Guarantee. We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction, hard work, and keeping you and your family safe.
